An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Plant Nursery Machinery Operator to join their production team.
This is not your typical machine operator role. We're looking for someone with hands-on experience operating specialised nursery machinery and a sound understanding of commercial plant production. About the Role
As a Plant Nursery Machinery Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and setting up specialised nursery production machinery used throughout the propagation and production process.
You'll work closely with the Production team to ensure machinery is operating efficiently, product quality is maintained and production targets are achieved.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating specialised plant nursery machinery safely and efficiently
- Setting up machinery for different production requirements
- Adjusting machine settings to optimise production
- Performing basic fault finding and troubleshooting
- Carrying out routine preventative maintenance checks
- Monitoring production quality and machine performance
- Assisting with the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Completing production documentation and basic computer-based reporting
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work environment
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring both technical knowledge and a genuine passion for horticulture.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within a commercial plant nursery or horticultural production environment
- Hands-on experience operating specialised nursery production machinery
- Experience setting up and adjusting machinery for different production runs
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting
- Experience carrying out routine preventative maintenance
- Good computer skills
- A strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
Qualifications
The following will be highly regarded:
- Certificate III in Production Horticulture
- Certificate III in Horticulture
- Certificate III in Protected Horticulture
- Or relevant industry experience operating specialised nursery production machinery
