Our client is a well-established organisation within the building and infrastructure sector, operating a high-volume warehouse and distribution facility in Derrimut. They are seeking an experienced Warehouse Leading Hand to support the Branch Supervisor and provide hands-on leadership across daily warehouse operations.
This is a full-time, permanent role suited to a proactive leader who enjoys being on the floor, driving performance, and maintaining high safety and service standards.
Reporting directly to theBranch Supervisor, you will take a hands-on leadership role within thewarehouse, overseeing storepersons while remaining actively involved in daily operations.
· Leading and coordinating storepersons to ensure safe, accurate and timely picking, packing and dispatch
· Supporting goods receipting, unloading and quality checking of incoming stock
· Creating picking slips, delivery dockets and dispatch documentation
· Overseeing and executing scheduled cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory
· Monitoring picking accuracy,DIFOT targets and customer service performance
· Operating a forklift safely as required
· Supporting transport booking, scheduling and freight coordination (local and interstate)
· Managing day-to-day warehouse workflows to minimise delays and disruptions
· Identifying operational issues and proactively developing solutions with the Branch Supervisor
· Reporting damaged stock, discrepancies, NCRs and DIFOT failures
· Supporting inductions for new employees, labour hire personnel and contractors
· Conducting toolbox talks and ensuring WHS compliance at all times
· Implementing 5S practices and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
· Identifying and reporting maintenance and forklift requirements
You will be an experienced warehouse professional who combines leadership capability with a stronghands-on approach.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar warehouse, transport or distribution role
· Proven ability to lead and coordinate warehouse teams
· Strong understanding of inventory management and dispatch operations
· High-level commitment to safety, quality and compliance
· Strong computer skills and confidence using warehouse systems
· Excellent organisation, time management and problem-solving skills
· Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
· Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
· Certificate III in Warehousing Operations or higher
· Building, construction or industrial industry background
· Trade or relevant tertiary qualifications
